SSL Optimization
With Steelhead Mobile 2.0, secure applications such as SharePoint, Outlook Web Access, SAP, Oracle and others that may use HTTPS can be optimized alongside the unencrypted applications that already benefit from Steelhead Mobile acceleration.
Steelhead Mobile 2.0 provides a patent-pending approach to accelerating SSL-encrypted traffic that maintains the preferred trust model. SSL acceleration can be achieved using this approach, Steelhead Mobile 2.0 can apply its world-class data streamlining, transport streamlining, and application streamlining mechanisms to SSL encrypted traffic while keeping all private keys within the data center and without requiring fake certificates in branch offices.
MAPI 2007 Optimization
With Steelhead Mobile 2.0, Riverbed expands its support for Microsoft Exchange environments and becomes the first wide-area data services (WDS) vendor to deliver a protocol optimization specifically for MAPI 2007. Steelhead Mobile 2.0 recognizes unencrypted MAPI 2007 traffic and applies specific Layer 7 application protocol latency enhancements to significantly improve performance, ensuring that performance considerations do not stand in the way of software upgrades.
Oracle Forms Optimization
Steelhead Mobile 2.0 provides enhanced benefits for the Oracle E-Business suite of applications, particularly Oracle forms traffic and reporting allowing Oracle Application Suite 11i traffic to be decrypted and optimized across the WAN up to 9x faster.
Link Based Licensing
The introduction of link-based licensing provides administrators with even greater control of their Steelhead Mobile deployments by providing them with the ability to specify the cases where optimization and license usage should occur. Licensing rules can be defined on an adapter-by-adapter basis and are powerful enough to define usage based on criteria such as wired vs. wireless, LAN vs. VPN or 3G access vs. dial-up.
Enhanced Steelhead Auto-Detection
Steelhead Mobile 2.0 provides more efficient license and optimization management through enhanced Steelhead auto-detection. This feature of the Mobile client identifies all Steelhead appliances on the WAN, but it is also now capable of determining if there is a Steelhead appliance present in the local network, and can defer to that Steelhead appliance for optimization based on its policy settings.
Client Improvements
Numerous enhancements designed to increase visibility and the troubleshooting capabilities of the end user have been built into Steelhead Mobile 2.0. The new Steelhead Mobile provides a complete picture of all of the applications active on the endpoint as well as all of the connections generated by each client. The client also generates lists of all of the available adapters and all of the Steelhead products that the client is peering with. New troubleshooting tools like certificate regeneration and trace routes further enhance the ability to spot issues and deal with them effectively.
